The Ascari KZ1 was originally conceived following on from the successes of Team Ascari. The idea was proposed for a road-going sports car based on racing technology. In the spring of 2000, that concept began to take shape in the form of the prototype Ascari KZ1. Now completed, the Ascari KZ1 has been transformed from a dream to a production reality.

Ascari KZ1R Limited Edition

Ascari KZ1R Limited Edition Front

The KZ1R, Ascari’s new thoroughbred for the track, hit British tarmac for the first time. Sporting the number 38 badge, the KZ1R was driven by Nicholas Cowell at the start of the 2004 Bullrun Ibiza with Wanadoo, in support of The World DJ Fund raising money for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy. It’s special appearance at the event, held at Marble Arch, London, marked Ascari’s announcement that the KZ1R is now available to order. After driving the KZ1R for the first time Nicholas reveled in the attention it drew saying: "Everyone was going mad over the car, it created such a stir. I really love this car, I want to keep it – it’s awesome! It’s incredibly fast with amazingly precise handling." The KZ1R is the track-tuned version of the KZ1, the race-bred supercar for the road, of which only 50 will ever be created. Its powerful 5.0-liter BMW based V8 engine delivers 520 bhp and can reach a top speed of 200 mph and goes from 0-60 mph in an adrenalin pumping 3.7 seconds. Hand-built to order at the state-of-the-art Ascari design and production facility in Banbury, the KZ1R costs around £225,000 (approx. $400,000) depending on exact customer specification. Stylish, edgy and sleekly aerodynamic the KZ1R has a super-light, super-strong carbon fiber monocoque chassis and body shell weighing just 1,250 kg (2755 lb). A front splitter and fixed rear wing add the finishing touches that turn this supercar into a track superstar. The interior is stripped to the bare bones to reduce weight even further and accommodate the integral roll cage. This is a car designed to take pole position on even the most challenging racetrack and is one to look out for in 2005.

The Ascari KZ1 is a sports car made by Ascari. It can reach 201 mph (323 km/h)[1]. This car has a highly tuned BMW S62, a 4941 cc V8 engine originally used in the E39 M5 and Z8. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 and 8.0 to 100 mph . The car is named from the initials of Ascari's owner Klaas Zwart, a wealthy Dutch businessman. Only 50 Ascari KZ1 cars will be produced, making it among the most exclusive cars produced today; by comparison, 400 of the well-known Enzo Ferrari have been made. Each car is priced at £235,000 and requires 340 hours of handcrafting. Owners also receive the opportunity to drive the car at the Ascari-managed Race Resort Ascari in Spain. The KZ1 was also featured in November 2005 on the BBC television show Top Gear, where it set the 5th fastest lap time ever recorded on the show at 1 minute 20.7 seconds; currently, the KZ1 holds 13th place, the second-fastest time being 1:17.3 set by an Ascari A10.

Ascari FG-T

Ascari released the FG-T in 1995 at the world's motorshows, where the styling and promise grabbed the headlines of the world's press. The car utilised a Chevrolet V8, mid-mounted, to produce 286 BHP. A few deposits were taken at the motorshows, but very few F-GTs were delivered as the project morphed into the more popular, powerful and accomplished Ecosse. External styling was identical to the Ecosse, however the headlights were covered (but these were obviously removeable), and the alloy wheel design was simpler. The FG-T was of use to the company, though - firstly, as a test base for the Ecosse, and secondly, as the company's race car, driven in the European GT championship by Ascari's owner, Klaas Zwaart. The racecar made use of the Chevrolet V8's inifinate tweakability, and was moderately successful.

The Ascari Ecosse was the first car from Ascari. First introduced in 1995 as a work-in-progress, the Ecosse was launched as a production model in 1998. The first car was powered by a mid mounted 6.0 litre Chevrolet V8 but this was later swapped in favor of a 4.7 litre V8 engine from BMW. The spaceframe chassis of the Ascari Ecosse was covered by a lightweight fibre glass body. The Ascari Ecosse was designed by Lee Noble who was previously involved with the Mclaren F1 and Lotus Elise design projects, later he went on to produce his own line of sports cars, Noble sports cars. The Ascari Ecosse was built in Banbury, UK by a team of dedicated professionals. Each car took around 450 hours to complete which meant only around 25 - 30 cars were produced each year. The Ascari Ecosse was replaced by the Ascari KZ1 in 2003.

Ascari A10

British Supercar manufacturer, Ascari has produced the answer to the Ferrari Enzo FXX, but for keeps! Whereas the Enzo FXX is not road legal, it was produced to be driven during track days only and costs just over £1 million (1.5m EUROS), the A10 is road legal so can be driven home and parked on your drive, to the envy of your neighbours for just £350,000 (522.000 EUROS). Designed, engineered and hand built in Banbury, England the A10 has 625bhp and weighs in at around 1200kg, thanks to its lightweight carbon fibre bodywork. Reaching 60mph in just 2.8 seconds and 100mph in less than 6 seconds, the manufacturer claims the A10 is the fastest road going production car around a race track. Only 10 are available and will be built to order. The A10 is more than just a revamped KZ1, which has found success in its first year of competing in the GT3 in 2006. It has new body panels, a reworked engine and suspension, with extensive brake modifications to cope with the extra power. Lucky owners will also benefit, if they wish, from some luxuries such as remote central locking, electric windows and door mirrors, climate control and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm system.
